Well Return of the Jedi is my personal favourite so I might be a little biased in agreeing with you there...
But as even Mark Hamill recently said, this new trilogy was the one last chance to get the old gang back together for one last big hurrah... And instead it's been squandered on promoting a bunch of SJW horseshit, anchored in by a charmless group of wannabies with no charisma or staying power. I don't care about Rey or Kylo... to me they were just an excuse to see Leia, Han and Luke again. Terrible stuff.
Rey is the worst of the new lot but the others aren't much better.
Mark Hamill was not the best actor back then either but he's certainly better than the new ones.
I liked the middle-aged Englishwoman rebel leader with the big nose and the weak chin though, you don't normally see someone like that in a Hollywood film, and Ade Edmundson, Eddie Hitler in space!
Anyone here ever watch Ghostwatch?
Well it's a TV movie so it kinda counts...
I didn't watch it at the time so I can't chime in on the furore it caused (I mean, other than simply loving the fact that something like that actually happened), but judging it solely as a serious piece of drama, I think it holds up pretty damn well. I still find it to be genuinely unsettling and there's a definite feel of menace about the whole thing. And hats off to Parkinson, Sarah Green, Mike Smith (god rest his soul) and Craig Charles. They played their parts to perfection. Though it is somewhat comical to watch Parkinson going on with the show as the studio around him erupts into absolute pandemonium towards the end.
Yes, that was very unfortunate and tragic. It's also the first (and so far as I know, only) program in television history to have induced PTSD in its viewers, as I recall.
