I was looking at these a while ago as an easy easy ebike converter.http://techcrunch.com/2013/08/11/rid...n-kickstarter/

I've never had a go on an electric bike, but the idea really appeals to me!

    Want this one!!

There must be somewhere to hire one, or get a test ride? Took OH to a bike shop where they let her loose on 5k worth of Trek carbon. It was fabulous, but outside our pay scale. They are so quick off the line. That was a torque sensing Bosch drive. Very smooth, natural to ride. You feel like Froome in the saddle. OH is sold on Bosch. I will build from a kit, just because.

Saw the ebike shop down my road had shut down today, possibly because of a crowded market place. Apparently the marina has the biggest and best electric bike shop, and I've seen others in town.

Can someone explain what science is at play in this video? My guess is just skinny wheels?https://m.facebook.com/story.php?sto...95185353931593

It looks like the motorbike rider in front is trying to steer round bends.
In practise, even on a push bike, to get round a bend fast, you use the principle of conservation of angular momentum and push the front wheel very slightly in the opposite direction to what you would think. This causes the bike to rotate and go round the bend as the front wheel tries to maintain it's original orientation. You also have to lean into the curve to prevent centripetal force from throwing you into the road.
So in the video as the guy steers round the corner the bike goes towards the middle of the road and he has to slow right down to get round the corner. Most people can get round bends at speed instinctively but some can't and have to learn to do it.

Wow, that took one twisted mind to design that.

Nearly mangled me bike last night! I went to a Tom Jones & Cake Party yesterday afternoon, and left rather inebriated around 11pm. My D-lock holder is a bit sketchy at the mo, so draped it over my handlebars, not predicting the limitions that put on the steering. 50 yards later, ass over tit with a rucksack full leftover cake bits.

Who's Tom Jones and why does he have a cake party? What's a cake party?

Were you ok after the crash?
