Tyson Fury got caught with a blinder on Saturday didn't he? The guy put him on his arse. I'm just watching the "Thriller in Manila" again in ESPN Sky Anytime. It never fails to amaze me in terms of just how good these guys were, and how much better the quality of fights were. Most of these exchanges would have signalled the end of the fight in modern boxing, as the ref would have jumped in, but they just went on, and on, and on, and on...
Muhammad Ali/Cassius Clay.
I remember years ago there was a computer analysis of a virtual fight between Rocky Marciano and Ali/Clay.
Putting in all the data of every fight they both ever had ., it predicted that Marciano would have won. (over, I forget how many rounds)
This of course assumed that both were in their prime., Not after Ali's enforced 'retirement' for a couple of years.
I always found this interesting because to me Ali was the greatest but Marciano did not have the same coverage or media presence.
And of course they never met, in a bout.Which would have been to me, spellbinding to watch.
But there is no doubt that Marciano was also a 'greatest' before boxers used hype.
And Marciano had no 'stage presence' ., he apparently when asked , did it all for "Mumma".
